Valerie Brown’s niche is helping clients improve human performance through learning. This makes her one of Innovative Learning Group’s invaluable project managers and performance consultants.
Her thoughtfulness and ability to see the positive side has made her a favorite with her clients. She has had long-term relationships with clients representing the automotive, banking, chemical, direct selling, pharmaceutical, and office furniture industries, as well as several nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
Valerie’s expertise in human resource development is broad. She has managed projects for the design, development, and implementation of learning strategies, curriculum architectures; self-study, instructor-led, and technology-enabled learning solutions; individual development planning systems; and evaluation studies.
Valerie naturally thinks strategically, helping her clients see the big picture and align solutions with organizational goals. Her forte is her analytical ability in designing curriculum architecture, and creating impact maps and performance models for domestic and global audiences.
Training projects she has led include initiatives related to sales training, research and development, policies and procedures, new manufacturing processes, and large-scale systems implementations. Her work in performance improvement has been so well received that she has presented it at the local and international industry conferences of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) and the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI).
In 2011, Valerie was awarded a Human Performance Intervention Award of Excellence from ISPI for her work on a project done in partnership with Amway International. Valerie used performance modeling and impact mapping to drive consistent, strategic performance of Amway’s distributors.
Valerie also co-wrote an article, “Using Performance Modeling to Drive Consistent, Strategic Performance of Amway Distributors Globally,” which was published in the January 2012 edition of ISPI’s Performance Improvement Journal. Excerpts from the article also appear in the 2012 edition of the book “Fundamentals of Performance Technology: A Guide to Improving People, Process, and Performance.”
In January 2012, Valerie began her second term as a member of the board of directors and secretary for the Michiana Chapter of ASTD. She also belongs to the national ASTD organization, the International Society and Michigan Chapter of ISPI, and an Organizational Behavior Management practitioners’ group.
Valerie has a master’s degree in human resource development from Western Michigan University and has completed all coursework toward a doctorate in that field. She also has a master’s degree in French from the University of Kentucky, and a bachelor’s degree in French from the State University of New York at Albany.
