Lisa Toenniges is the owner and chief executive officer of Innovative Learning Group, a company she founded in March 2004.

A dynamic and respected leader, Lisa has more than 30 years of experience in the performance improvement industry and has consulted with many Fortune 1000 companies about their learning and performance strategies and solutions.

ILG was born out of Lisa’s passion for building a business, providing for her employees, and doing what is right for clients. Her entrepreneurial spirit, positive outlook, and hands-on leadership style have been the drivers behind ILG’s profitable annual growth.

Lisa has devoted more than three decades to the  International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) and in 2018, received the Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding contributions to the advancement of ISPI. Lisa rose through the Society’s ranks, first serving as president of the ISPI Michigan Chapter, then as chair of ISPI’s 2010 annual conference, and most recently in several roles on the Society’s board of directors. In April 2015, she completed her term as the Society’s past president; she previously served as treasurer, president-elect, and president.

Lisa is the Secretary of the Executive Committee and Member of the Board of Trustees for On My Own of Michigan. On My Own of Michigan assists adults with intellectual development disabilities to become independent, self-sufficient, social, and contributing citizens in their communities.

Additionally, Lisa is a volunteer grant reviewer for the Arts & Culture Committee of Impact100 Oakland County. Impact100 is a model designed to empower women to see themselves as philanthropists and overcome the barriers women have historically faced in this arena. The organization provides non-profit organizations with grants in increments of at least $100,000.

In 2021, Lisa served as a LearningElite judge for Chief Learning Officer magazine’s award program.

Lisa also is committed to the local community; she has given much of her time to mentoring college students and professionals who are contemplating a career in training and performance improvement. Additionally, she is a frequent speaker and panelist at performance improvement, instructional design, entrepreneurial and small-business conferences, and other business-related events.

Lisa has a master’s degree in instructional technology from Wayne State University in Detroit and a bachelor’s degree in music education from Michigan State University. She also is a Certified Performance Technologist endorsed by ISPI and recognized as a Six Boxes ® Practitioner by the Performance Thinking Network.
