Lisa Toenniges is the owner and chief executive officer of Innovative Learning Group, a company she founded in March 2004.

A dynamic and respected leader, Lisa has nearly 30 years of experience in the performance improvement industry and has consulted with many Fortune 1000 companies about their learning and performance strategies and solutions.

ILG was born out of Lisa’s passion for building a business, providing for her employees, and doing what is right for clients. Her entrepreneurial spirit, positive outlook, and hands-on leadership style have been the drivers behind ILG’s profitable annual compound growth rate of 14 percent.

Lisa has devoted almost three decades to the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) and in 2018, received the Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding contributions to the advancement of ISPI. Lisa rose through the Society’s ranks, first serving as president of the ISPI Michigan Chapter, then as chair of ISPI’s 2010 annual conference, and most recently in several roles on the Society’s board of directors. In April 2015, she completed her term as the Society’s past president; she previously served as treasurer, president-elect, and president.

In October 2018, Lisa began a two-year term on the Board of Trustees of On My Own of Michigan. On My Own of Michigan assists adults with intellectual development disabilities to become independent, self-sufficient, social, and contributing citizens in their communities.

Lisa also is committed to the local community; she has given much of her time to mentoring college students and professionals who are contemplating a career in training and performance improvement. Additionally, she is a frequent speaker and panelist at performance improvement, instructional design, entrepreneurial and small-business conferences, and other business-related events.

Lisa has a master’s degree in instructional technology from Wayne State University in Detroit and a bachelor’s degree in music education from Michigan State University. She also is a Certified Performance Technologist endorsed by ISPI and recognized as a Six Boxes ® Practitioner by the Performance Thinking Network.
