So, What's The Difference?

LEARNING STRATEGY  A learning strategy is a road map for how to serve up learning and performance support to the organization.

It lays out macro-level decisions for things such as the vision for learning, governance, delivery methods available, organizational structure for learning, technology infrastructure, and evaluation strategy.

The learning strategy is the key planning tool for the chief learning officer.

INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES Instructional strategies are defined at the course level.

They dictate how to deliver each chunk of content (e.g., lecture, video, reading) and how to engage the learner in practice (e.g., small group activity, multiple choice question, case study).

This work is the output of an instructional designer and typically lives in a design document.
